To some, a car is simply a car, a necessity, used to get from A to B. To others, however, cars are a lifestyle. They are amazing machines, works of art and the list could go on forever. Probably why some cars are so flipping expensive and why plenty of people are happy to pay ridiculous amounts for them! We’re listing the top ten most expensive cars IN THE WORLD.

10. Zenvo ST1 ($1.2M)

We start at number ten. The ST1 is a beast of a supercar is not only sleek and stylish, but packs a 6.8-litre V8 with not only a supercharger, but also a turbocharger. With 1,104 horsepower to boot, this car is definitely worth all the debt. However, the supercar has faced a fair bit of controversy, with a disastrous appearance on Top Gear which led to breakdowns, slow lap times and an engine fire. Zenvo claimed that the fire was caused by extreme driving, but either way, the ST1 isn’t exactly a car you would say no to.

9. Ferrari LaFerarri ($1.4M)

Only 499 units were made of this supercar, and they were quickly sold. The LaFerrari packs a 6.3-litre V12, with an electric motor and trick ‘Kinetic Energy Recovery System.’ What’s more impressive is the car’s ability to accelerate from 0-60 mph in less than 3 seconds, and to 124mph in under 7. Impressive.

8. Pagani Huayra ($1.4M)

This car is just as unique as its name. Named after the Incan God of Winds, the Huayra has an AMG-sourced 6.0-litre V12, with two turbochargers and 620 horsepower to boot. When competing with others, the Huayra comes out on top beating the likes of the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport and the Ariel Atom 500.

7. Aston Martin One-77 ($1.4M)

If you were looking to be the next James Bond in this sexy Aston Martin, think again, as all 77 units have been sold and taken. That, and the fact that it is worth $1.4 million big ones. Sporting both an elegant yet beastly exterior look, the One-77 packs a V12, producing an impressive 750 horsepower. Not only can the car do a 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds, it can hit 220 mph overall, making it the fastest car that Aston Martin have ever made.

6. Koenigsegg One: 1 ($2M)

The limited edition One:1 can reach 273 mph due to its whopping 1,340 horsepower. This Swedish ‘megacar’ therefore is one the fastest cars ever made, and one of the most advanced as well. With its F1 inspired core, “ventilated ceramic brakes”, and “carbon fibre intake manifold”, only six were ever made.

5. Ferrari F60 America ($2.5M)

In celebration of Ferarri’s 60th anniversary in North America, the F60 was made exclusively, with only ten units being sold. The supercar mimics the mechanics of the F12 and features a 6.2 litre V12 that means the car can make 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds. The car was designed with a patriotic exterior ike the Stars and Stripes colour scheme and American flag seat inserts.

4. Mansory Vivere Bugatti Veyron ($3.4M)

The Veyron is not only one of the most expensive cars in the world, but also one of the fastest. It can reach 254 mph, and with LED lights, a redesigned cabin and front grill and a beautiful carbon fibre body and spoiler package to boot, this car is worth every penny... or million. Yeah, million is more fitting.

3. W Motors Lykan Hypersport ($3.4M)

Aaahhh, we are in the top 3. To begin this off, the Lykan Hypersport is not only a beauty, but packs a 3.7 litre, twin-turbo flat six that can reach a top spead of 240mph. With its stylish scissor doors, futuristic interior design and jewel-encrusted headlights, no wonder why this car smashed through three skyscrapers in a starring role in Furious 7.

2. Lamborghini Veneno ($4.5M)

Veneno translates from Italian to English as: Poison. Yeah, I know. The name suits the stylish and futuristic exterior. Worth a whopping $4.5 million, the car is packed with a 6.5 litre V12, able to hit 60mph in 2.9 seconds. This car is ridiculously stunning and expensive, but is number 2 on our list. So what’s number 1? Keep scrolling...

1. Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita ($4.8M)

So this is our number 1. The car is the most expensive car in the world, and why you ask? Because it’s covered in diamonds and no, I’m not lying! The carbon fibres are covered with a diamond dust-impregnated resign. The car also boasts a 4.8 litre dual supercharged V8, but only three were ever made... really, is $4.8 million a lot? (That last bit is dripping in sarcasm!)
