It has been reported that Lexus and BMW have partnered up to
create a new supercar that will compete with the likes of the Audi R8.
Sources say that the companies united to build a prototype and
that both BMW and Lexus versions will be made.
The two companies have united to build a ‘mid-engined
all-wheel-drive prototype’ and both will feature an ‘aluminium spaceframe’ with
electric motors to power the front wheels, whilst petrol will power the rear
wheels.
BMW wanted to team up with Lexus because they were impressed
with Lexus’s work on the flagship LFA during the 2008 financial crisis.
The Lexus/BMW supercars will be hitting the market by 2020,
according to sources, from a starting price of £160,000.
